But that’s not what I’m here to talk about.
Nike’s slogan, of course, is “just do it.” That’s taken from Nike, the Greek goddess of “action.” And it’s just as relevant to tax planning as it is to athletes, even if the headlines aren’t quite so bright.
Here at TMN, we’ve assembled a unique collection of tools to grow a planning-oriented practice. And they work. But you can’t just join the system and wait for it to happen. You’ve got to put them to work.
The good news is, the new TMN system makes that a lot easier. Instead of just giving you a collection of do-it-yourself tools and wishing you luck — which is what we did with TaxCoach — the TMN partners with you to do it for clients together. The new system includes tools for pricing plans, a done-for-you option for preparing plans (at youroption, so you can pick and choose which clients you want to service yourself and which you want to bring us in on), and a suite of done-for-you services to implement plans.
But you’ve still got to put something to work. So here are two recent success stories from a single member who has done just that.
First, here’s his experience with the new TMN “Quote Tool” for pricing planning engagements:
“Pricing tool: I tried it with the latest plan I did, and the tool came out higher by about $1,500. I like it as a confidence booster and reasonableness check when pricing by myself.”
We know that members have struggled for years over pricing. How can you confidently assess a price that you can present to a client, feel that you’re giving them “no-brainer” value, and yet also be confident that you’re not leaving money on the table? The Quote Tool does exactly that. You just have to use it.
Next, from the same member, on the Networker weekly done-for-you client emails:
“Plug for the Networker — after subscribing to it for a year and not utilizing it, our first one went out last week and I already have two appointments and one project attributed to its first delivery last week.”
Again, the Networker has always been a terrific tool for keeping your name in front of prospects and clients. (Well, maybe not forever, but at least since 2009.) But it’s not enough just to sign up and start paying the fee. You’ve got to just do it — send it out, using your delivery technology or ours. (And you really should use ours.)
Join us on our Wednesday business development calls for more success stories just like this one. (Remember, September 19 is International Talk Like a Pirate Day, which is always my favorite call of the year!) Find something about the system you like, then just do it!
